Abstract

There are three types of processes that vary according to the nature of the agent used to eliminate pathogens, among the
chemical agents are different substances known as antiseptics and disinfectants (1). Objective: To identify the level of
knowledge about antiseptics - disinfectants in the hospital area of students from 6th to 8th Semesters of the UAC
Pucarani Nursing Course. Material and methods: descriptive, transversal type, the survey method and the instrument a
questionnaire with eight open questions, the information collected was introduced to the Excel version 2010 program
describing the results in tables and figures. Results and conclusions: According to the results, students know how to
differentiate an antiseptic from a disinfectant. It is concluded that they adequately identify which agents are most used
today, indicating which substance to choose in case of an open wound, as well as when and how a disinfectant loses its
action.
