Characterization of intrafamily violence in the Hospital de Coripata 2008-2011

Abstract

A descriptive, prospective, longitudinal and quantitative study was carried out through medical attention to victims of
domestic violence in the Hospital de Coripata, during the period 2008 to 2011, recording the data in the clinical records
of outpatient consultations. Of the 68 cases studied, the most frequent lesion was ecchymosis 51.6%, the most affected
region was the face 25%, the hands the most frequent vulnerary agent 51%, the most affected the female sex 96%, the
age group of 26 to 30 years with 25%, women married with 57%, and secondary education 70%, jealousy the main
cause of aggression 45%, physical violence the most prevalent 70%, the months of aggression July and December,
Tuesday the most frequent day of the violent event 17%, 2011 with more cases with 28%, the public road the most
violent place with 34%, and the Coripata people with more cases. The results coincide mostly with reports from other
studies and are very useful for implementing established norms, care flow charts and clinical care records.
